Patient Coordinator

Position Summary:
The primary function of the Patient Coordinator position is to greet, provide accurate and friendly customer service and schedule patients and visitors in person and on the telephone, while serving as a liaison between patients and dental office staff.

Qualifications:

Essential Functions:

  • Project a professional image while greeting patients and visitors.
  • Check patients in and out.
  • Schedule patient appointments in-person and by telephone.
  • Collect, enter and retrieve demographics and insurance information.
  • Monitor and maintain doctor and hygiene schedules.
  • Collect, enter and document patient payments.
  • Communicate schedule, insurance and other changes with clinical staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Specifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years customer service/administrative experience. Dental or clinical setting, a plus.
  • Experience with Dentrix preferred and/or the ability to learn computer software quickly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English language.
  • Demonstrated prioritization, problem-solving, organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Skilled at multi-tasking and making sound judgments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain positive and calm in all circumstances.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive
    relationships with coworkers and patients.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.

Dental Assistant

Position Summary:
The primary function of the Dental Assistant position is to assist the dentist in providing treatments to patients.

Qualifications:
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
2. Set up and breakdown operatory
3. Take dental radiographs (x-rays)
4. Manage infection control – prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment
5. Provide patients with instructions for oral care following dental procedures
6. Educate patients and parents on appropriate hygiene care
7. Be flexible and willing to adjust to accommodate the needs of our young patients

Job Specifications:
1. Dental Assistant certificate or degree not required.
2. Anticipate doctor’s needs, have good time management skills, and attention to details.
3. Ability to operate business equipment and dental clinical equipment such as x-ray machine.
4. Professional patient communication skills are required, including compassion for patients.
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
9. Ability to keep a positive, calm attitude in stressful situations.
10. Ability to work harmoniously within a team.

Dental Hygienist

Position Summary:
The dental hygienist works collaboratively with the dental team to make quality patient care a priority and meet the oral health needs of the patients. Dental hygienists greet and prepare dental patients for care, review medical history of patients, performs routine treatment procedures and document dental history. Dental hygienist interacts with patients and provides dental education.

Qualifications:

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Perform prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, radiographs, and sealants under supervision of dentist.
2. Set up room according to OSHA standards; clean up and sterilize after patient procedures are completed.
3. Provide patient dental care education and oral hygiene instructions for brushing and flossing.
4. Perform charting as needed, update health histories prior to treatment.
5. Handle patient records and employee issues confidentially, following HIPAA guidelines.
6. Practice recommended safeguards for personal and patient safety.

Job Specifications:
1. Graduate of accredited hygiene program, a current Wisconsin state license, and CPR certification.
2. Good oral and written communication skills, basic computer knowledge, and good time management.
3. Ability to multitask and pay close attention to details.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
5. Ability to keep a positive, calm attitude in stressful situations.
6. Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
